Serengeti and Ngorongoro Safari 7 Days 6 Nights
Day 1 - Arusha, On arrival at Arusha Kilimanjaro Airport, our representative will welcome you to Tanzania and transfer to the hotel, where you spend the night in BB basis, Impala Hotel (C) or Arumeru River Lodge (E). BB

Day 2 - From Arusha to Serengeti National Park. After breakfast leave Arusha and drive to Serengeti National Park. Covering 14.763 sq km the park is the largest in Tanzania; it is part of the Serengeti ecosystem with Ngorongoro Crater Area and Masai Mara in Kenya. Stop over will be made for lunch and for the first panoramic views of Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater from the top. Along the road you see the typical Maasai "bomas" - villages and their cattle (you are advised not to take photographs unless in exchange of payment). You proceed through the grass plains and semi arid area after entering the gate of the National Park. This is a unique experience of vastness and wilderness. "Serengeti" in the language of the Maasai comes from "siringet", the "endless plains", which were formed 3-4 million years ago when ash from volcanic eruption in the Ngorongoro covered this land. The first game drive is on route to your lodge, Serena Serengeti or Sopa Serengeti (C) or to the campsite in Seronera area (E) for dinner and overnight. The transfer is long but the road is in good condition and the stop over will allow you to enjoy your journey and to stretch a bit your legs. FB

Day 3 - Serengeti National Park the legend of wilderness. After early breakfast, you go for long game drive. You can choose if you wish to come back for lunch and rest at the lodge or if you wish to leave with packed lunch and spend more time in game drive. The Seronera Valley is a transitional are between the open grassland in the South and the wooded grassland in the North - West, criss-crossed by rivers like Seronera and Orangi which end into Grumeti River and provide water reserve all year long. For this reasons you will find in this area a very high concentration of wildlife. Among the resident mammals are included giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, Thompson's gazelles, bushbucks, leopards, lions, spotted hyenas and the endangered black rhino. Visit Retima Hippo pool to see high concentration of hippos. In Serengeti you will become familiar with all the species of Acacias trees, like the fever tree and the Umbrella Thorn acacia. Typical of the Serengeti plains are the Maasai Kopjes, beautiful rocks which often become shelters for predators. The number of animals is higher when the migration is back from the Northern plains to the South, between December and May, which is normally a rainy period. This phenomenon interests species like the wildebeests or gnus, the zebras, elands, Thompson's gazelles. It is amazing to see the long columns of the animals move in one direction in search for water until the next dry season. Return to your lodge, Serena Serengeti or Sopa Serengeti (C) or to the campsite in Seronera area (E) for dinner and overnight. FB

Day 4 - Serengeti Lobo. After breakfast, you will go for another game drive in the direction north to Lobo area. Lunch at the lodge. Lobo area is characterized by rocky hills, woodlands and rivers including the upper Grumeti, which give permanent water for migratory as well as resident animals. From July to December this area is populated by the migrant herds going to Maasai Mara and coming back. However this is a place for game viewing all the year round: it is known the high concentration of lions; typical here is the small klipspringer antelope; giraffes and elephants are abundant in the savannah where the red thorn acacia is the common scenery. Dinner and overnight at Lobo Lodge (C) or Lobo camping site (E), located on the hills of Lobo Kopjes with panoramic views of the area. FB

Day 5 - From Serengeti to Ngorongoro. After breakfast, you leave your lodge for morning game drive. After lunch, you will exit the park through Naabi Hill gate in the direction of Ngorongoro and Oldupai Gorge (this is the original name of the so called "Olduvai Gorge"). This is found to the North West of the Ngorongoro crater; it is about 55 km in length and its depth varies from 30 to 100 meters. Movements of Earth produced various fault in the sediment and led to the exposure of five different layers which provide documentation of ancient life through fossils and artifacts dating back to 2 million years. You can visit the Oldupai Gorge museum and ask for questions concerning the importance of the site for the history of the humanity. Optional: you can visit one of the Maasai "bomas", the typical village of the Maasai. This tribe has migrated to the Ngorongoro area about 200 years ago and it has always lived in harmony with the rest of the environment. There are about 42 thousand Maasai pastoralists living within the Ngorongoro area, with their cattle, donkeys, goats and sheep. The Maasai are allowed to graze freely within the protected areas.
Proceed to the ridge of the Ngorongoro Crater for dinner and overnight at your lodge, Serena Ngorongoro or Sopa Ngorongoro (C) or at the camping site Simba (E), and enjoy the evening view of the crater. FB

Day 6 - Ngorongoro Crater, one of the wonders on Earth. After breakfast, you descend into the caldera of Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable experience of wildlife. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers an area of 8.292 sq km, ranges in altitude from 1020 to 3.587 meters. The crater itself is only a small part of this; the caldera is large 19.2 km, is 610 meters deep and covers 304 sq km. The permanent presence of water in the floor of the crater supports a large resident population of wildlife. This includes wildebeests, zebras, impalas, dikdik, elephants, buffaloes. Large predators are easily seen, with families of lions, cheetah, spotted hyenas, leopard. The main water body inside the crater is Lake Magadi, which is an alkaline lake. The lunch with pic nic boxes can be taken from the hippo pool point. In the evening you go back to the lodge for dinner and overnight, Serena Ngorongoro or Sopa Ngorongoro (C) or at the camping site Simba (E). FB

Day 1 Presentation: This is an active and interesting safari that will involve many types of activities, from photographic game drives in national parks, primates trekking and other trekking, boat trips in the river Nile and Lake Bunyonyi other than amazing Kazinga Channel, cultural exchanges. Be prepared for many hours in a car transferring from one location to another, but always enjoying the beauty of the Ugandan land and people. Day 1 - Entebbe, Advise on your scheduled flight to Entebbe International Airport in Uganda and our representative will transfer you for overnight to your hotel in Kampala, Protea Hotel or similar (C) or budget hotel (E). Optional: Depending on the time of the flight you will visit Ngamba Island on Lake Victoria in the afternoon to view the feeding of the chimps and hear an informative talk by the sanctuary staff.

Day 2 - Murchison Falls National Park. After breakfast your adventure in Uganda will begin driving Northwest to Masindi and Murchison Falls National Park, stopping over at the many stalls on the road to try the typical roasted cassava and other local food. First activity is the nature walk in Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, the conservation project which has brought back to Uganda the rare white and black rhinos and you will see them closely while walking freely. Lunch. Proceed to the national park, the largest in the country and you reach the river Nile where the beautiful Murchison Falls create a narrow canyon of thunderous water. You will have a view from the top of the falls. Before evening you check in to your lodge for dinner overnight, Paraa Safari Lodge / Nile Safari Lodge (C) or Red Chilli Rest Camp (E). Today transfer is about 6 hours drive, part of it through marram road within the park. FB

Day 3 - Murchison Falls National Park. After a cup of coffee, you will depart for an early morning game drive using our safari vehicle to explore the savannah, in the region of the delta of the Nile on Lake Albert, Northern bank. Among other animals in the wild, you might find elephants, lions, buffalos, giraffes, hartebeests, waterbucks, oribis, bushbucks, spotted hyenas and leopards. Be ready with your camera for the best snaps. Relax as you drive back to the lodge where you will have breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon, another safari will be organized, by boat along the river Nile to the base of the Murchison Falls. It is amazing the concentration of wildlife in the bank of the river Nile, including hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birds species, like African eagles, the rare shoebill stork, pelicans, kingfisher, Egyptian geese and much more. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. FB

Day 4 - Albertine Rift Valley and Fort Portal. After breakfast you leave the National Park proceeding Southwest along the Lake Albert and Rift Valley escarpment for panoramic view points. You pass via Hoima the capital town of Bunyoro kingdom for stop over. Lunch en route. You will pass through sugarcane, tea, banana, coffee and cocoa plantations. Reach Fort Portal the capital town of Tooro kingdom on the shadow of Rwenzori Mountains, the biggest mountain range in Africa. Dinner and overnight at Nyinabulitwa Country Resort / Mountains of the Moon Hotel or similar. Today transfer is long, about 6 hours. FB. Optional: Dinner with a local family where you will learn about the Batooro traditional food, dances and life style. Overnight at Kafred community homestead in Bigodi.

Day 5 - From Fort Portal to Queen Elizabeth. After breakfast depart from Fort Portal heading Southwest to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You have a game drive en route as you are going to the lodge for lunch time. In the afternoon, from Mweya peninsula the most exciting safari by boat will take you along Kazinga channel, one of the most popular sites in Uganda for its concentration of wildlife and opportunities of goods photographs. This cruise will introduce you to the bird life, and you will be in a position to view birds endemic to the channel, prominent among them the Great Rwenzori turacco. Moreover, you will see plenty of hippos, buffaloes and elephants. Return at lush to your lodge for dinner and overnight, Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana Safari Lodge (C) or Hippo Hill Camp (E). FB

Day 6 - Queen Elizabeth National Park. After a cup of coffee, be ready for a game drive along the tracks of the national park, in the Northern sectors and towards Lake George and Kasenyi village, using our safari vehicle. Expect to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, waterbucks, Ugandan kobs, perhaps the leopard though is shy and rare to be seen. The wildlife population in Queen Elizabeth has much recovered from the dark period of the Seventies, and now the park is a good place to spot animals and it enjoys unique landscapes and views of crater lakes and the Albertine Rift Valley, which make this area special and unforgettable. Go back to the lodge for breakfast and lunch. In the afternoon drive to Kyambura Gorge for the trekking to see the chimpanzees in the wild. The gorge is over 16 km long and 100 meter deep following Kyambura river and the Albertine Rift Valley Escarpment. Day 7 -Bwindi Forest National Park. After breakfast, you leave the Northern sector of Queen Elizabeth and proceed to the South West of Uganda, where are found the rain tropical forests which are hosting the remaining world population of the endangered mountain gorillas. The choice of the area of the gorilla safari depends on the availability and allocation of the permits to secure this activity. According to the road and climatic conditions, you will pass via Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth, the Southern region of the park, where can be found a rare population of so called "tree climbing lions". During the hot hours of the day, lions of this area enjoy resting lying on top of Figs trees and it is exciting to see this spectacular spot. Lunch en route. You reach by evening Bwindi National Park in Buhoma via Ishasha or in Kisoro for dinner and overnight, Bwindi Gorilla Resort - Nkuringo Safari Lodge (C) or Buhoma Community Rest Camp - Kisoro Tourist Hotel (E). Day 8 - Mountain gorilla safari. Early in the morning you enter the rain tropical forest of Bwindi for the gorilla safari (note: in case the allocation of the permits are in Rwanda Volcanoes National park, this will be communicated and the program changed accordingly). The activity starts at 8AM and you will follow the ranger guide in a group of maximum 8 people as you search for the location of the habituated family of mountain gorillas which was allocated according to the permits. Bwindi forest in Uganda has a population of about 370 gorillas, which is half the world population for the 2007 gorilla population surveys. Only some of the families have been habituated to receive visitors and this opportunity helps to support the conservation project. It is not predictable the time you will spend to find the gorillas. You have one hour for observing the primates and their behaviors, while taking photographs. Day 6 - From Serengeti to Lake Manyara National Park After breakfast, game drive in the park. After lunch, your journey proceeds to Lake Manyara National Park. This small park covers only 330 sq km of which 220 sq km is the lake. The name derived from the plant Euphorbia tiruccalli, known as Emanyara in Maasai language. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight, Lake Manyara Hotel - Kudu Lodge (C) or Jambo - Kudu camping sites (E). FB

Day 7 - From Lake Manyara to Tarangire National Park After breakfast go for game drive in Lake Manyara, through the ground water jungle forest home to large families of baboons, blue and vervet monkeys down to the lake. On the shores of the soda lake and its swamps and woodlands live large mammals, including giraffe, herds of elephants, impalas, zebras, buffaloes as well as water birds like flamingoes, pelicans, Egyptian gees, species of storks, crested cranes. The bird list of Lake Manyara counts over 400 species. Sometimes visitors can spot tree climbing lions in the acacia woodland, however it is not frequent. After lunch at your lodge, drive to Tarangire National Park. After Makuyuni trading centre follow the direction for Dodoma and enter the park through the main gate. Expect a game drive en route before reaching the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge (C) or Zioni camping site (E). FB

Day 8 - Tarangire National Park / Arusha / Dar After breakfast, go for long game drive in Tarangire. The park is home to more elephants per square kilometer than anywhere else in the world. It covers 2.850 sq kilometers and its ecosystem is based on the Tarangire river and large swamps. These provide water reserves all year round and therefore animals are abundant also during the dry season generally from July to November. The concentration of wildlife is the largest outside the Serengeti system and includes the migratory wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, impalas, elands, as well as the orix and gerenuk, only found in this area. During the rainy season many animals scattered outside the park area, but the permanent resident are also in good number. The bird list of Tarangire is high with over 550 species recorded, including some easily spotted like the Kori bustard, ostrich, hornbills, the yellow collared lovebirds. The vegetation is characteristic for the presence of ancient, spectacular baobab trees. One element of disturbance for the visitor is the presence of the tsetse flies, therefore it is recommended to use repellents as you enter the park. After lunch from the lodge and another game drive, drive back to Arusha for connection flight to Dar Es Salaam OR Selous Game Reserve. On arrival at the international airport of Dar Es Salaam, you will be welcomed and transferred to the hotel for overnight in BB basis, Peacock Hotel - Slipway Hotel. HB

Day 9 - Dar / Selous Game Reserve After breakfast, leave Dar in the direction of Selous Game Reserve, the oldest protected area in Africa. Lunch en route. Expect a game drive as you enter the reserve in the direction to your lodge. Selous with its 50.000 sq km is the largest game reserve in Africa and covers 5 per cent of Tanzania's total land. The area was named after Frederick Selous, a hunter and naturalist, who died in World War I and he is buried in this ground. The reserve is a sort of expanded bush, bisected by the Rufiji River, which flows through the area and provides the focal point of much of the game viewing. Selous boasts Tanzania's largest population of elephants, big numbers of lions, leopards, hunting dogs, buffaloes. There remain few hundreds black rhinos, but sightings are possible. Dinner and overnight at Osprey Camp Lake Manze - Mbega Camp or Rufiji River Camp (C) or Selous River Camp (E). FB

Day 10 - Selous Game Reserve After breakfast, leave the camp for photographic game drives along the trails of the reserve. Pic nic lunch. Another exciting experience is the walk safari, whereby you can see closer species of birds as well as the mammals. The reserve hosts the world's largest population of African wild dogs, rare and protected specie. Boat trips down the river offer visitors a chance to see hippos, bird life and crocodiles. There are several hot spings or "Maji Moto" and you might even find lions or other mammals bathing in the surrounding pools down the springs. Selous Reserve will capture your heart with its vastness and unspoilt nature. This reserve is visited the whole year long, however it is advisable to avoid the rainy season between April and May when the road conditions might deteriorate. Dinner and overnight at at Osprey Camp Lake Manze - Mbega Camp or Rufiji River Camp (C) or Selous River Camp (E). FB

Day 11 - Selous - Ruaha National Park After breakfast, the journey proceeds to Ruaha National Park. With its 12.950 sq km this national park is the most remote and it is located in central Tanzania. The focal point of the wildlife is the river Ruaha, where you can find a large number of animals, including giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, lions, waterbuck, impalas, kudus, leopards, hyenas and jackal. The area is interesting also for the beautiful landscape and the baobab forests. Game drive en route and packed lunch boxes. Dinner and overnight at Mdonya Old River Camp (C) or camping (E). FB

Day 12 - Ruaha National Park After breakfast, you will start a full day of game drives in the National Park. Pic nic  lunch boxes. Possible to organize  a boat trip along the Great Ruaha River. In the evening you return to your lodge for relaxing, dinner and overnight, Mdonya Old River Camp (C) or camping (E). FB

Day 13 - Ruaha - Mikumi After breakfast, you can take another game drive in Ruaha. After lunch, you will drive to Mikumi National Park in time for evening game drive en route. With 3.230 sq km, Mikumi National Park is forming the northern border of Selous Reserve. The main feature is the Mkata plain, open grasslands with the mountain ranges bordering on the two sides. The park is accessible through the all year. Game animals are abundant, including lions, herds of elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas, buffaloes, Eland and kudu. There have been recorded over 400 species of birds. Dinner and overnight at Bush Camp - Vuma Hill Camp (C) or camping (E). FB

Day 14 - Mikumi National Park After breakfast, you will enjoy a full day of photographic safaris and explorations along the trails of Mikumi National Park. Lunch at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Bush Camp -  Vuma Hill Camp (C) or camping (E). FB

Day 2 - Nairobi - Lake Nakuru After breakfast drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. You will stop over for lunch. Day 3 - Maasai Mara National Reserve After breakfast, continue the journey past the Maasai town of Narok to the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve - to many, the jewel and highlight of the safari expedition. Day 4 - Maasai Mara National Reserve A full day in the Mara with game drive early morning and late afternoon, each of about 3 hours. This is where millions of wildebeest cross the Mara River from the Serengeti National Park of Tanzania to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve of Kenya - an annual spectacular event, which brings along thousands of plains game and predators to the Mara. From June to October the migration is from Kenya to Tanzania, while from November to May is from Serengeti to Masaai Mara. However, the phenomenon is more linketdto the actual changes of weather. Day 5 - Maasai Mara - Serengeti After breakfast pick Client and depart for the world's famous Serengeti National park via Isabenia border with Picnic lunch, which will be taken at one of the Picnic sites, Full day of game drive in Serengeti National Park Serengeti provides sanctuary to the highest concentration of plain animals in the world. Survey estimates have put the animal population at about 4,000,000 including 3000 lions, 1,600,000 wildebeests, 300,000 Thompson and grants gazelle, 500,000 zebras. For the ornithologist, there are over 400 species of birds in the Serengeti Meals and overnights at the Seronera Wildlife Lodge in Serengeti.FB

Day 6 - Serengeti - Ngorongoro Depart from the Lodge for an early morning game drive in Serengeti. Breakfast then proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation area. Visit Olduvai museum en route. Dinner and  overnight at NGORONGORO WILDLIFE LODGE FB

Day 7 - Ngorongoro - Ngorongoro Breakfast at leisure. Descend the crater rim for a half day tour till 15h00. Picnic lunch Tanzania's 'secret garden' which contains a hidden world of teeming wildlife. Dinner  and overnight at NGORONGORO WILDLIFE LODGE FB

Day 8 - Ngorongoro / Arusha / Nairobi Drive to Arusha and connect to an afternoon shuttle bus back to Nairobi. Overnight - Bed and breakfast (if catching an evening flight from Nairobi, safari can end on this day with the shuttle bus dropping pax at the airport for their flight out). HB

Day 9 - Nairobi - Entebbe - Kampala On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, we shall welcome you and transfer to the hotel in Kampala for overnight in BB, Protea Hotel (C) or Capitol Palace (E). HB

Day 10 - Kibale National Park After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest National Park, in Western Uganda, on the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains. Lunch in Fort Portal. In the afternoon explore the beautiful region of Kasenda crater lakes or take the nature and village walk from Bigodi. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge or Nyinabulitwa  Country Resort. FB

Day 11 - Kibale - Bwindi Impenetrable National Park After early breakfast, you enter Kibale forest for the trekking of the chimpanzees in their natural environment. After lunch, you drive Southwards to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrival in the evening to the National Park, for dinner and overnight at Bwindi Gorilla Resort - Engagi Camp - Nkuringo Lodge (C) or Buhoma Community - Travelers Hotel (E), according to the location of the gorilla permits. FB

Day 12 - Mountain Gorillas tracking After breakfast and briefing from the rangers of UWA, set off for the gorilla tracking in the rain tropical forest sanctuary. You shall be prepared with trekking boots and light rain coat, and bring with you packed lunch. The time you will spend in search for the habituated family is not predictable. You will have one hour for observing and taking photographs after you have reached the gorillas. Dinner and overnight in the same  lodge. FB
 
Day 13 - Drive back to Kampala in time for evening flight back to Nairobi or for international flight.
